Long falls in the World of Warcraft can damage you, and if the fall is long enough, kill you. Consequently, (and defying the laws of actual gravity) if you jump while on an elevator you will fall from the point from which you jumped, instead of landing safely back down on the elevator. Thus tall elevators, such as in Shatt and in Serpent Shrine Caverns (ESPECIALLY in SSC) have been lovingly referred to by WOW players as Elevator 'Bosses'
